Counselling and Psychotherapy in Leeds
My name is Shamim Akhtar and I am a BACP accredited counsellor who works with adults, young people and children. I work within the BACP code of ethics offering counselling and therapy using the integrative therapeutic approach. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I am passionate about my work and believe therapy can help with whatever issues and problems you are currently struggling with. Issues like depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, self-sabotage and low self-esteem can be addressed allowing you to reconnect with yourself and move towards who you want to be.
Together we will use the sessions at your pace to work through your issues in a safe and supportive environment, where you will get the time and space you need. I will use a range of therapeutic techniques that ensure that your sessions are tailored to your needs.
As an integrative relational therapist, I believe that it is the relationship between the client and the therapist, which is the key to growth and healing. I bring an attachment focus to all my work and believe our early relationships influence our relationships with self and others throughout our lifespan.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :
•Marital and premarital
•Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum
•Trauma and PTSD
